  • Jose, was  it on sale on ebay about a couple of months ago? I was very tempted as I think that the seller had mentioned "Tuareg" but it didnt look Tuareg to me (with my limited knowledge. Also no such things in any of my  books on Tuareg  art.).........So I left it.

Ait  from where? (old bracelet from the...........?).

  • burkina faso,benin or nigeria.

  • Nice, the form is that of the Vanku= armlets of Maharashtra woman. Have they seen this type of bracelets in Burkina Faso. I saw this design also in Indonesia used for "modern" rings. Well the books about ethnic jewelry are now by now known in all countries and, I suppose, used to copy for new jewelry.

  • Thank you all for your comments and thoughts.

  • @Ait - I am sorry to hear that the Spanish bracelet was a sham. I am glad thought that you spotted it in time!!.

  • This looks quite new to me, though I may be wrong. However, wherever it was made, I like the shape, and can understand that that prompted you to buy it.

  • It has the shape of bracelets from the Tamil Nadu, India.  It is a lovely shape but from else were, a modern bracelet I think. I have seen this shape type used also for modern rings.
