Tapered cone-form bracelet of six hinged, box-constructed panels of repousse-work silver in high relief. Possibly by P.Orr & Sons (Madras, Tamil Nadu). Likely 19th Century.Depicts various Hindu deities on their vehicles.Though not strictly ethnic, this type is given enough weight by Oppi Untracht to be in cluded in "Traditional Jewelry of India".

  • Hi Frankie I think this is very nice work but the frame work and bangle do not look 19th c because of the sharpness in design.  I would think this dates from the 30's -mid century.. or pre 1950.  I see it as very similar to hollywood regency period and what was going on then with jewelry. Glamorous new error  but not Edwardian or even  Esthetic movement. Brits would have used this or very modern Indians who were traveled.  The taste was always there for these even earlier but the way it is made is not reflective of design at that time.
