  • Oh!  Very splendid indeed!

  • thanks, these are fun to wear, very Queen of Shiba!

  • Wow! These are gorgeous. Your booth at the SF Tribal Show was fantastic as always. You have such wonderful things.

  • A beautiful pair Linda, I love the heavy granulate on them and the gold plate is kept well intact.

These cuffs are  worn by the RashAida women only, I have never seen them worn by any Harrar or Harrarque women.

  • utterly splendid

  • I thought they looked Ethiopian, now I read the comment by Ingrid...... not worn by the Harari but there are also Rashaida in some parts in Ethiopia....... They are gorgeous anyway!

  • Eva, they are Ethiopian, and The RashAida do dwell from Harrar through the Danakil into Eritrea and further on. What I was saying is that the settled people from Harrargue(Province), and the Harrar town,(those are called Adarre) do not wear these. So they are definitely to be associated with the nomadic RashAida.  If you look  at the pattern on the shorter version like the bracelets displayed by Cordelia, Carry and myself they have absolutely the same designs (even with the gold plated bits(look at my foto album, those are worn by the RashAida  as well by many ethnic Ethiopians.   I think Linda had displayed them as Mauritanian a couple of days ago. (a beautiful set).So Eva your feeling that they look Ethiopian is correct..

  • Ingrid, thanks for the  Explanation, very good Information, thank you.

  • Gorgeous pieces - and very similar to the smaller one you posted earlier (labelled Mauretanian).

    Love them!
