  • Hi Kim!

These two look like Kabyle adwir or ibzimen to me, so from Algeria. These were used on the headdress for example and are usually mounted on a French silver coin. I do not know if the also occur in Morocco, but perhaps Sarah and Ayis can shed more light on that?

  • These appear to be Kabyle from Algeria
  • thank you Patricia and Sigrid.  Do you have any idea of age? Also the other is not on a coin, they weren't exclusively on coins were they?
  • fibulas of this shape and use are usually made using old french francs coins

All the one i saw so far were made this way as well as the round pendants used on famous jabyle necklaces...coins enamel and set wil coral cabachons

  • I have ones that are made from coins and ones that are not made from coins. Insofar as age, others can answer better than I, maybe fifty, sixty years, although that is only a guess.
  • this one is complet, nothing changed. nice piece too

  • we call them: 1 piece Tabzimt,more tibzimin ( small pieces )

1 piece: abzim. more pieces : ibzimen ( big ones )

but hier, fibula or fibel  :-)
