Could be Uzbek and could be rubies. Rubies come in all qualities and prices. But, I think contemporary.
yes, they are rubies. rubini in italien is ruby. i think they are old, very old. the foto does not show it or the gilding is hiding it.

This is of the group I describe as bump and has Caucasian work , and over tones. Made in Daghestan most likely for Uzbek market. I sold a single width like this that i have the other half to , but have not seen so wide as this before.
