  • beautiful bracelet with fine art and detailed work. Do you have an idea about the date of this fancy bracelet?.

  • Thank you Mustafa.  It is hard to place the date, but this particular style with the clusters of spikes and domes appears in photos from 1880s-1920s.  Here is the closest example I have found in an undated photi by Emile Frechon who photographed in Algeria from 1890s-1910s and died in 1921.  So my guess is early 1900s.

  • Wonderful photograph Lynn.

  • Thank you Chantal. I particularly like how she is wearing several varieties of bracelets and all her jewelry is clear.  The ones on her lower left arm look like one I have seen on ebay.fr, with short spikes inset with coral.

  • Yes its a splendid display...I just wish we could see more of her necklace/pendent. Did she ever think that she would be admired the world over in all her finery a century later ???   A sort of  fame... And your bracelet is equally  superb.

  • Thank you so much Chantal.  I will post the photo separately so others can enjoy it.  I really like what I have seen of this photographer's work, I have not found any exploitative photos (like some of the Lehnert and Landrock photos...)

  • Yes please post her separately. She wears a lot of the jewels that often come up on this blog.Am intrigued by the pimento like necklace ....

Will look into Mr Frechon...He cant have done only one photo whilst in Algeria...GreaT find.

  • I just saw the photocopy of  his beautiful Kabyle girl. Also  fac simile of his book on Biskra...Hope there will be some pics as I bought it.
