  • Rabah, are Oulad Nail and Mzab design related at all? This particular motif looks Mzab  to me.

  • you are right Patti, the motifs look the  same. the raison is ,it is flower and leaves. if you look at the maroccan,tunisian,ottoman ones all  look also the same

    the chawi, oulad nail and mzab are more identic because of the geographic area, oulad nail is a region with 700 km aprox large, from saoura until tunisia where they meet south aures

    the difference, the mazab work with cut system and very litle punch work they have also the sandcasting work. saves material and energy. the oulad nail work more with punch system and almost no cuting. their jewelry ( specialy defence bracelets ) are heavy and need to be robust.

    if you look good at this bracelets, all the patterns are made with the punch technique, even the floral motif
