  • Did you mean ait ouaouzguit?

Depending on your answer i wil have some commecnts on this rare fibula!

  • Ha ha Tagged this on my laptop whilst travelling I haven't researched it fully yet, my instinct was siroua mountains...tell me more!!
  • guessing I may have been led astray by the enamel !! These are from the North...Debdou / Meknes?
  • this is some very rare and old stuff, we might be talking more than a century old!!

This comes from eastern high atlas, most probably Ait seghrouchen, but with a very early judaica origin

But what is the most outstanding is the little filgree work on top that could have been enameled.

Do you think that this was bearing enamel (since you can expect it in real)?

  • actually the similar one worn around debdou, would have the same origin but there as some very slight dirrences
  • there a re similar one in debdou but they slightly differ from this one, although they all belong to the same realm of the judaica influenced fibulas worn by eastern berbers
  • The piece is in storage in Morocco at the moment...my luggage was way too heavy to bring back everything this time!

From memory the green/blue may be verdigris I am going back to get it in Sept!!

It was sourced in the Siroua region...maybe the enamelled piece was added in that region?

The back of the piece is also decorated, but has no enamelled panel..

I also found a similar smaller version...maybe I will go back for it....I had no enamelling.

    Sx

  • I know nothing about it, but it looks great and I just love it!!!
  • for sale £600
