Omani Anklets

A pair of silver anklets with elaborate floral engraving. They close with pins that are decorated with buds and a charm in the shape of an Ottoman fob. Filled with tiny pebbles to make noise. These resemble Linda Pastorino's massive cuff, but they are smaller and the floral design is deep engraving, not cut-out work. I believe these are Omani. With many thanks to Eileen Massard who is selling her collection of Omani and Saudi jewelry. She collected these in Riyadh women's souk in the 1970s.Dimensions:193 grams together11cm wide by 10cm tal

  • Dear Lynn; Congratulations! These are very rare and cannot be found anymore in the souks. I have only a single piece of them and keep on looking for a pair. I love the shape. In my opinion, the shape of these anklets are among the most beautiful I have seen. This was a great opportunity, Lynn. You should consider yourself fortunate! With kind regards. Peter

  • By the way, Lynn, yes, they are Omani! WOW! Peter

  • Outstanding, beautiful.

  • I couldn't agree more... these are absolutely fabulous. Congrats, Lynn!
Looking at the chasing pattern, it is very similar to the Yemeni anklets you, I and Nada own - only that Nada's bears an Egyptian silver stamp. It is quite fascinating to see how widespread some types of design have been , even down to the most intricate details.
  • So beautiful, artistic work congratulations  Lynn for the this  valuable treasure. Thanks for sharing it with us as members of the forum.

  • Thank you Peter, Ingrid, Betty, Mustafa, and Sarah for the feature!  I agree I am very lucky to have them, Eileen sold me several pieces that I would probably never find again and I am grateful to her.  She has a large collection of the famous Omani anklets that she is selling.

The shape is elegant and the engraving is very fine.  They are wearable as both anklets and bracelets... the way the shape is made and opens, they will fit on small ankles while not being too large to wear at mid-arm.

  • I adore these!
