  Everytime i go i find good pieces are disapearing from the market.
  I believe in three or four years we wont be able to find any piece.
  Oman and yemen has nice old silver items.

  Dear Mohamad: during the past years, I have travelled 3 times to Oman and I have purchased from one of the silver shops in the Muttreh Souk also when at home in Jordan. However, every time the Jewellery became more and more expensive. At one stage it has pretty much doubled within a couple of months between two visits (that was the time when the gold and silver surged on the world market). Also, the pieces available are no longer a WOW. They are rather common and more recent. One can still find very special museum pieces. However, I was offered such at the price of almost USD20,000.-, which I am not willing to pay. After that, I have stopped my connections to Oman. However, I am still in love with Oman and believe that their jewelry is among the nicest ethnic jewelry, if not the nicest, available. I have most of the items of Oman in my collection and some even double. I have not yet been able to purchase a Murtasha necklace and have seen only four in the market - two were recent and put together, using the reminders of several old units, and two very nice old ones were around USD15,000.- each. However, I can wait... . By the way, there is a nice antique shop located in the Ocean Center in Muscat, next to the Intercontinental Hotel. He used to have very nice jewelry (he has purchased it long ago and is now selling it). He is tagging them all, hence, each item is featuring the price, which is quite uncommon. He is not cheap but I found his prices quite OK during the past and he has great stuff, always putting additional items. I believe you should visit him next time, if you do not yet know him.   I believe you are talking about tarek in mutrah sook , actually i asked him about you last week and mentioned you have pass by and bought a necklace lately from him.
  He is my friend i know his father and used to purchase from him,
  As for the shop next to intercontinetal , it was the first time to see last week he has great pieces he is lebanese with great pieces and the trustfull thing as uou mentioned he is having tags for each item.
  I am planning also to visit yemen next mont depending on my business trips, maybe we can meet there i know most of the dealer there and the prices still less than oman. It is not very safe to visit sanaa these days and specially they are very strict at the airport.

  Dear Mohamad: Many thanks for your message. Yes, I know Tarek and his brother at Muttreh Souk very well and purchased quite a lot of items from them. I like Tarek's passion for jewelry and can talk with him for hours. Please pass my regards to him when you see him the next time. I will be in Sana'a from May 4th late night till May 9th early morning and stay at the Moevenpick Hotel in Sana'a. If you are there at the same time please let me know - it would be a pleasure for me to meet you. I am aware that Sana'a is not as safe as it used to be and I was told today that it would be better not to go to the highlands as we did last time (they have villages with silver shops in some places - unbelievable). I heard also about the stricter measures, which have been implemented at the airport. I know some people in Sana'a and will we will surely find a way...
