Old Tuareg Veil Weights - ASSROU N' SWOUL

Geometric layers of bronze, silver and copper. Cm. 22,0 (8.66”) high x cm. 4,7 (1.85”) width; gr. 100,1 (3.53 oz.).A genuine and old Tuareg veil weight known as " assrou n' swoul ", generally translated as " the key which is thrown over the shoulder ". This elaborate key-like pendant is often worn by wealthier women as a counterweight to keep their head-cloths or robes from being blown away by the Sahara's winds.

  • this is really a specially beautiful one!!! If I am not mistaken, the mainly used forms have meanings, one is a lezard, etc. But I don't have them in my mind at the moment.

  • I did not know this piece, and I find it beautiful. Finely designed and made. And very "Tuareg" in it aesthetic. I do like it - very strongly. A good purchase indeed.
