WOW! Mega-beautiful, Eva. A fantastic find. It's either from Tigray or Eritrea, I think.
I am a a trifle jealous. I must admit, as I've been looking for one of these pins for ages. .. Well, you know the story ;-))
Wear it with pride & many thanks for sharing the lovely pics!
@Betty, I feel a bit sorry about "the Story" on Ebay...... It arrived today and was almost black, but otherwise in very good condition. I had to clean it, it would have made a terrible photo (in fact, I made some photos of the original condition). Now it Looks really splendid, and I must admit it advanced to be my absolute favourite item of all my collected ones. The silver is not good, in best case it is coin silver, or even mixed with nickel and / or brass. Apart from that, it is gorgeous!
There is no need to be sorry, dearest Eva - the lovely hairpin has found the best of all all possible home in wonderful collection! I'd really be interested to see one of the "before" photos" though...
ok, I place the Picture I took when it arrived (I do this with all my buys - just for the records).
Splendid Eva, what a find. And the cleaning made it superb.
@Thank you Chantal! I miss your beautiful items here ! I was very lucky for this hairpin, I paid no customs duty, and the price was also not extreme. I used to pay a lot of customs duty on items less worth than this one.......... probably I was just lucky, and the customs did not even open it.
You were lucky with the customs...I had to stop buying in the States as in the past few years I sometimes ended up paying more in taxes/handling than the price of the object... Strangely enough I got a piece from Israel a few weeks ago and the Customs didnt pounce!
The hairpin is the jewel in the Crown!
@Thank you Akkie, it was just goodluck that I found and got this! They are rare.
Very, very nice, Eva.
