  • I would love one of these, was admiring the two at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto this afternoon!
  • According to my research these are Nupe bronze beads, cast with lost wax in moulds of clay and sand, and the spherical beads also hammered.

you need to give the size and perhaps even the weight- otherwise they just appear to be average size but shown in close-up.

i have just acquired 4 strings of them, each weighing between 1 and 2 kilos, of the massive bicone centre pieces the largest is 15cm (over 5.5 inches) in diameter.

They are fixed loops threaded on original rolled fabric rag, so not for the waist.

Mine will be displayed and for sale at the Bead Society of Great Britain bead fair on October 2nd in Uxbridge.

  • wow stefany. a bead that weighs 1/2 kg?

    amazing

  • i've been able to weigh 2 of the 4 big "cartwheel" beads on their own and they weigh just under and just over 1 kilo!
