sorry Preethi. it doesn t look old for me ( from the photo)
i was a bit careful in my first comment. now i can write some facts :
tribal, ethnic jewelry have some attractivity and power due to 1000 of years cultures and traditions. it is actualy the first feeling i have to a piece when i just see it.
here, the symetry is not the same, it has to be a bit large in the top, the dots and some other details are not good proportionel to the rest.
but, they are nice and i i m sure that they will feel good when you wear them
Thanks very much Ait and Ron!
Ait, please don't hold back with your comments! I admit that when I first signed up on this forum, I was nervous about hearing others' opinions about my jewellery. But I'm over that stage now :) It's all grist to the mill and I appreciate having real information and learning about techniques, history....The jewellery I love will continue to be loved, no matter what.
In any case, this pair isn't mine. It was recently listed online and I was curious about it.
Preethi is much braver than I am. I am still nervous about people's opinions of my jewelry. In this case, however, I like the geleem better than the jewels. There are a lot of wonderful examples of these jewels online, not so many of great geleems.
Modern Indonesian earrings. I can not name an island because these look a fantasy by the maker. They have a bit of the earrings of the Moluks, but the inside flower (?) should not be there also the "horns" at the top and the little hands at the sides are strange.
Ever since the 1980th when jewelry got scarce they started making many fakes in Indonesia.
Hereby the types that might have been the one that gave the idea for this earrings.
These are not old at all and dont match any of the exiqting original genuine models
