This wonderful piece's sight is making my heart bleed ... I narrowly lost an auction for one those wonderful capsules.
The smaller beads are very similar to the designs worn in Ethiopia and Somalia. I think it was/is also in Zaidiyya were they made/make the wonderful large globes that people in the Horn used to wear as large "spacers" in those impressive strands of amber beads which are extremely rare finds these days.
Oh Betty, I know that feeling well. I can tell when I unwisely pass on a really good piece, because the regret deepens with time instead of relieves. Whereas with a common piece, I see it again and perhaps at an equivalent or better price, and so the disappointment fades.
