Peter, I would love to comment on each of your marvellous pieces! I am totally amazed by the collection you have so far managed to put together ... and presumably will continue to do. So wide-ranging and out of the ordinary. It must bring you great pleasure. The necklace above is a great find... but my sympathy is with the woman who had to wear it :)) Do you know how old it is?

Wow you have definitely found a treasure throve full of wonderful jewels from Hadarmout in Yemen. All the beads from there are so intricate and intriguing. Quite different from the usual yemeni staple!!

Dear Thelma and Ala'a; Many thanks for your comments. When collecting, I always make sure to select unusual pieces, which are a bit out of the norm. Such pieces make a collection. Also, one cannot only amass top pieces, one should also compliment the collection with smaller, sometimes inferior silver quality pieces. A women would not only have owned WOW pieces but also others, which they were sometimes wearing together with the larger units. I like those too and believe that especially such pieces will complete a collection and give an insight into a particular country/region's traditional jewelry. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love grand, large pieces and buy them whenever I can, however, I also love smaller every day worn, sometimes insignificant pieces. They so much reflect the soul of a women. Tomorrow or after tomorrow (I do not know whether I can wait that long), I will attempt to purchase another top piece. It is expensive but absolutely gorgeous (I have already reserved it a while ago and hope that the dealer has kept it for me...). With kind regards. Peter
