this is great. yes very heavy ,over a kilo of silver and always with agate or carnelian. i think, yemeni have semilar ones too and they are wedding necklaces with big prayer boxes
good purshassing
Absolutely gorgeous, I would have thought this was Yemeni. Congratulations!!
What a wonderful piece Peter! Is the beaded strand the same age as the box?
Dear All, Many thanks for your messages. Yes, Charlotte, the chain could have been added later on even though I believe that it is quite old as well. With kind regards. Peter
Dear Peter, I love this unusual amulet box. Beautiful and the refined bells on them sso unusual but in tune with its decoration and the lovely surprise colored beads, I think, carnelian, malakite and something black. re sedate and refined. The beaded necklace bings it out well. Makes it altogether a warm jewel. So wearable. Gr. Ingrid.
Dear Rabah; This particular piece is not that heavy but very intricate. However, I have one also from Yemen... and attach a photos below. Here again, the box itself is not that heavy but very large. With kind regards. Peter
Absolutely beautiful Peter. You never seize to amaze me with the breadth of your collection.
