Necklace - North Africa?

This is a modest copper necklace with some parts gilded. While the metal might not be precious as used for other jewelry, the overall workmanship and shape of the dangles is amazing. I have this piece since well over 15 years in my collection and when rearranging my cupboards it sprung into my eyes ... again. I bought it in Cairo from a lady who lived for over 10 years with the bedouins in the Sinai.... Does anybody know the provenance of this necklace? Any input is as always much appreciated.

  • Dear Peter,  A lovely design. It looks very similar to a vintage silver necklace from Rajasthan that I am lucky to own. As far as I know these necklaces are quite common and can be found in slightly varying designs and different materials (silver, copper, silver plated). Saying that, the large drops and the gilding in your piece are quite unusual. With kind regards, betty

  • I second Betty's comment. Indian it should be but age uncertain
