Najd Bracelet Stack

Three Saudi Arabian bracelets with turquoise and red glass, from the Najd region. The two on the bottom are a pair of open cuffs (see next photo) and the one on top is the closed cuff I have shown before. Each bracelet in the pair has six turquoise and two glass cabochons. The closed cuff has 12 turquoise and two glass cabochons. The stones are bezel set and the bracelets are stamped with a series of chevrons, crosses, and dots in the shape of a pyramid. Because the markings on all of these bracelets are exactly the same in the same pattern, I believe all three were made by the same person. Saudi turquoise is my absolute favorite.Dimensions:The pair are 9x6cm on the outside and 5.8x4cm on the insideThe closed cuff is 8x7cm on the outside and tiny on the insideAll together the three weigh 172 grams

Beautiful bracelets Lynn. I adore saudi turquoise as well. I am aware of " the art of Bedouin jewlery " but I wish there were more references about saudi jewlery and it's making. Those are definitely great pieces to keep. Br

Dear Sami, Ingrid, Betty, and Peter. Thank you so much for your kind comments. I have a very hard time passing up jewelry from the Najd. Sami, in addition to that book, there is also "Traditional Crafts of Saudi Arabia" by John Topham which has a nice chapter on jewelry.
