not at all. it is at least 60 years old. could be more than 80 years old. i do not like to exagerate :-)
it was black, without chain and the lock was not in order. bought it, cleaned it and took it to my touareg silversmith to repare. now looks how it should be and is on hold ( almost sold ).
i still have 1 at home ( Algeria )
Very substantial looking..........I posted one very similar (in design a while ago) but the silver was thinner. Yours must be quite heavy (Mzab?). Do they still make them in the Mzab?

chantal thank you. yes it is Mzab, 200 gr. no, they are not more making them. the tendence there now is like in tunisia and some arabic country.copie of simple local jewelry gold platted.
the trip was better than i expected,a bit tired. i did Alger tamanrasset with bus in 7 days including searching good pieces , collecting more knowledge, making orders and visiting friends.i still have no answer for many questions i wanted to have.
i left tamanraset with 33 ° after 1000 km we had a 50 km long area with sandstorm. few hours later, tarted raining non stop 24 hours
i was expecting military checkpoints and patrols after ghardaia. it was nothing, all normal until tamanrasset but .... not even one tourist between ghardaia and tamanrasset, even in ghardaia, i saw only a french woman married with a local man. even marroco dealers didn t come. normaly i meet at least 10 in march or april

I remember the night journeys in a bus -and everyone seem to be smoking! and they had hankies on their face to be able to sleep!- to reach the oasis. No check points then.They were a few rourists then and it was such an exciting journey, visiting such wonderful and outlandish places.........Its so sad that it is now too unsafe to visit.I may never be able to realise my dream of seeing Timbuctu and surroundings, things are not getting better!
Anyway I loved hearing about it.
