  • Thanx Tribal, i had the same feeling

  • that was my first impression too - the cenral bead (looking like a birds cage) seems to be another style than the rest of the pendant. I agree witih Tribal heritage, that pendant seems different than the rest.

  • Very nice chimera Ayis! havent we got them all!!!...........

  • Thank you tribal, i apreciate your input.

I was thinking of Yemen at first glance, but i do remember having seen this style of little boxes sometime ago, i just can't remember where.

Even if yemen is still a possibility, i am much more inclined to think of this coming from somewhere near the mediterranean!! Probably less "ethnic" than what we may think, somewhere near turkey or even italy!

I am still searching, a challenge for the sleuth soul of any amateur!!

  • Definitely Tribal. The filigreed cage bead might be the only thing we all agree about, meaning it was 100% added some when in the late life of this mysterious pendant

  • I see your point Tribal, but actually my pendant does not bear any opening such as the  middle eastern "hirz"  which allow them to hold prayers.

This is why i can't think of it being used the way hirz are

  • What grade silver is the silver bead?  I've seen Thai hill tribe silver with these dots.  But I certainly don't believe that the coral is from there.

  • High grade silver hillary.
  • 999 high grade?  Does the loop on the bottom (from which hangs the cage) look like a newer addition?  Is it soldered or was it added by punching a hole in the silver bead?  dies the silver wire that runs though the bead and spirals around itself look old and original?  Sorry for all of the questions, but I believe that they can be important in determining if this piece has been put together recently or not.  Where did you find this?
