Mystery box, silver, Africa?

Is it from North Africa, Sahara area, Mauretania?I bought it at a fleamarket for the silverprice. I put it on a chain with Africa trade beads. 3,5x3 cm, 1,7 cm deep. The box is closed, it can't be opened.

  • Who knows? Silver Mystery box? Sahara? Mauretania? Hirz, amuletbox?
  • That is a mystery.  It reminds me of something from Tata or Mauritania.  The thickness of the box-shape and the decorative silver work between the large dots of granulation are what makes it difficult, I think.
  • The piece looks to be a replica of a kitab, I see similar pieces on offer int he Mellah in Marrakech. A pic of the back of the piece may help to decipher it more .
