Not sure if this is authentic or something put together. Any ideas?

  • Another interesting piece. Has anyone seen one like this? If I am to take a guess I would say Kabyle/North Africa - but it could be a marvelous piece of something else.

It reminds me in some aspects of this piece which was discussed recently.

  • This piece is Ottoman probably Turkish.  I can pin point it exactly if you give me a few hours.
  • I LOVE this piece!
  • This is fragment of a full necklace. This piece was the upper back (would have had two each side) with involved chain work and pendants. This is from Saphrambolis in Greece. Many pieces during this period resembled each other but specific regional differences ( ie shape of ornament, use, enamel, carved corals, color combination of enamel denote village and region, country and even age)

Macedonian jewerly is some of my favorite but also is confused with Albanian, Armenian, Turkish, etc.

  • Great comment, Linda! Very helpful.
  • Thanks everyone for the info - this available from a seller on ebay. The number is 140582103638 if you are interested. Here are the details:

  • If one sees this as a fragment, it is one with some genuine character. A bit rough, but quite attractive for the kind of pendant it now is.
  •  Hi it's actually not from a buckle but anyway it is old!
  • This piece is arabic, and diferent materials for your piece, Sarath. They haven't nothing in common, only the form... I think.
