  • This looks new and pristine. Any thoughts on if it is Moroccan or new Algerian production? Thanks!

  • Could we see a close up of the pendant please. Especially the coral setting and also an image of the back... Thanks. Sx
  • Thanks Sarah. Here are a few more images.

  • My feeling is Algerian..
    Reasoning.
The enamelling is a fine quality, slightly more delicate in execution than recent Tiznit work, the chain in not a style I see in Moroccan pieces. The coral is complete pieces, with an almost accidental facetted aspect to the finish...Tiznit recently seem to go for a composite...
Happy to hear other ideas folks. Ayis?

  • Lovely to see the enamelling on the back. A classy touch. X
  • nice piece preethi.

i guess Algeria. not the high mountains but the flat area. between isser until bedjaia

  • Thanks Ait and Sarah! This looks new to me - would that be right?

  • Nicely made! I think it is new work. The style is not right. This type of box you see at the chain of fibula pairs from Kabyle. But different chain, different pattern.

  • not older than the 1980. this kind of new jewelry started arround that time, it was a new push of the jewelry for dayly wear

  • Thanks very much for the input! Yes, this is a very wearable necklace and quite nicely done. Very interesting to see the modern-day adaptation of a traditional piece.
