This fibula is one of the oldest model that has ever existed in Morocco with examples dating back to nearly the 11th/12th century. They have existed almost nearly all over Morocco...earlier examples have hallmarks on the back.
Yours have the very distinctive feature of having the base of the pin carved like fibula pins from lower souss valley.
Can you post a picture of the back.
Thank you
Hey Alaa ..i think you right …it's from Ait Hadiddou….but a similar is on Dr Bir collection book listed as Ait Benhaddou…maybe the doctor bought from there …here is the back …looks old to me ..no marks ..but high grade silver ……
Kisses…Angelo
Thanx for the additional info
Well gathering up of different details on your fibulas, i can say that yours does rather come from the Middle to lower souss valley between taroundant and Agadir:
The omega rings are too thin to be from the south east (where the tradition has alway been to cast them in very thick way)
The engraving at the base of the pin is typical of the fibulas coming from the lower Souss valley
Also the engravings on the top part of the fibula on the trapezoid shaped space where it joins the pin, are also typical from this area.
Usually this very trapezoid space on fibulas from the Ait hadiddou and other south eastern morocco tribes has got a very distinctive motif either cast or engraved in the form of a reversed "tanit" shape (the goddess with raised hands)
Again i stress on the fact that this shape was veeeeery widespread all over morocco (on older ones hallmarks from RABAT, Dukkala, Tadla..!!) and the regional variations are very hard to identify to be able to make difference.
