Moroccan enamelled rings

These "rings" were used in Morocco by "attaching them to the end of plaits in the Akka oasis or were hung on the temples in Agadir. They were filled with perfumed wool to arouse the senses." (see page 265 of A World of Head Ornaments). Chunky, heavy, with a lot of original enamel still present.

  • Hi Sue these are also perfume amulets, and would be hung in te Hair on beaded strands or on bands  the void in the centre would also be filled with scented wool.
