  • Paisleys are also Persian.
  • THE FACETED CARNELIAN BEADS ARE REMINESCENT OF THE OTTOMAN JEWELLERY

THE TURQUOISE STUDS ARE MORE PERSIAN AND SO ARE THE PAISLEYS

THE OVERALL DESIGN IS MORE URBAN THAN RURAL AND THE FRAGILE TREASURE FEEL THAT EMANATES FROM THIS NECKLACE WOULD MAKE ME THINK OF A RELIGIOUS MINORITY IN EITHER IRAN OR TURKEY

    JEWISH? SYRIAC? PARSI? ARMENIAN?

  • I look at this again and I am thinking Uzbek, mostly because of the delicate paisleys and  the round pieces inset with blue. Confused, however, by the carnelian which is rare in the Uzbek jewelry I know. As to age, probably sometime mid twentieth century.
  • Ahmad & Peter, have you seen anything like this?  I've been trying to place it for years.
