the Miao are hilltribe people, having their own culture, they live partly (or mainly) in China, but some also live in Thailand in the3-countries-area in northern Thailand sometimes also called Hmong. The main group lives primarily in southern China, in the provinces of Guizhou, Hunan, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi, Hainan, Guangdong, and Hubei. Some members of the Miao sub-groups, most notably Hmong people, have migrated out of China into SoutheastAsia (northern Vietnam, Laos, Burma (Myanmar) and Thailand). Thesehilltribes in Thailand (north of Chieng Mai, area Chieng Rai and beyond) wear mostly black dresses decorated with very colourful embroideries and dangles. Also they wear beautiful jewellery (usually 30 % silver, rest unknown mix). (I once lived in Thailand for sometime, therefore a certain connection to this area), length of the pin 14,5 cm, width 4 cm.
