These 22 karat gold beads are from Mauretania, ealry 20th century.
sublime
verry beautiful
Very special, have never seen something like that. Around Timbuktu there are many Mauritanians and a great influence on everything can be noticed, (especially clothes and the music!!!), but have never seen such a necklace. It looks gorgeous.
Thanks, Eva. Mauretanian jewelry has always been rare. It was exciting to find enough of these beads to make a necklace!
As you will have noticed, Joe, I posted - as a matter of priority - your other Mauritanian necklace, as I thought that one even more spectacular, on FB "Ethnic Jewellery and Adornment", where, predictably, people have been very interested in that. I shall also publish this one, but a bit later. They are both great pieces!
