Isn't it an earring?
Alaa Eddine: I cannot say yes or no for 100%, being an earring or not (I have also thought about this, but I'd rather think no. Besides, Ingrid (who lived 40 years in Ethiopia), says, it is a hairpin.. You know, the possibility exists, but the long pin speaks rather against it....... that is all I can say. (It is not impossible to be an earring). And to confuse you even more: Some of my hairpins I am wearing as earrings........ (not the big ones with something like a box on top, but others)......this one could also be worn as earring, I will probably do so sometime.
