ID assistance please! This is solid silver, 416 grams with gilt Buddhas. It has fantastic detail. I believe that it may be Bhutanese, but I'm not entirely sure. I would also love to know the function of a piece like this.

Hillary, these look like the five Dhyani buddhas .. for meditation. The fishes are one of the 8 auspicious symbols of Buddhism ... particularly where you have two fish together .. and can be found on many gaus.

The size and shape of this lead me to wonder if it might be a manuscript cover for a book of sacred texts.
Sutras were kept in a long book with an ornate cover like the photo I have posted below. ( from Google)
