  • Hello Karim, what is 'karakorum'?  I know these beads as Kazak from northern Afghanistan.  It looks like a picture from my house!  :-)

  • Hi Kim

I bought them along the Karakorum HIghway (Gilgit) which goes from Pakistan to China and was told they were local. Later found at different traders' stores and always were referred to as Gilgit Beads. who knows the truth?

    cheers k

  • I am sure many beads have many names and spellings and variations of such.  And as various groups cross territorial boundaries these names can sometimes become vague.
