This has a pin fixed on the back for use as a brooch. Were brooches used as such or is the pin a later addition?Insight appreciated.

  • Is there at the back no sign of any solder? Can there have been a fibula  attached? How big?

  • I don't see any solder marks other than the ones that fix the pin. Here's a photo of the back.

    I'd wanted to check this piece for a while and finally decided to when I saw Linda's piece. Wonder if this was part of a diadem....
