Looks nice and old and no suspicious S shape curlicues there!.... Ait, when you write your book or article on Algerian jjewelry dont forget to devote a chapter on the Moroccan copies of the Kabyle style with pictures! Joost may let you borrow the photo of his wonderful diadem and you can take the ones from my fibulae as illustrations!
chantal. thank you a lot. i do not believe that i will write a book. in this net you say it, at home they say it and my friends and the collectors i know hier in germany and europe say it too. :-)
what i ment last time abouth the S or half of it, the letter ( waw ) in arabic that a high spiritual place has in islamic culture. this is some thing to get commented from joost for asure.
so the S and half S , in kabyl jewelry, they beggin from a point and end in another or with another point. all thoes forms a fine symetric design.
Am waiting to show you soon my newly purchased Kabyle bracelet (I hope it willpass the test!).
Dont think of starting by writing a whole book, just think of writing some small articles. (Of course this is what books are made of, small articles called chapters........)
The S shapes I was talking about were the filigree ones in the Moroccan copies of our mistaken Kabyle purchases (Joost's and mine) or the filigree ones of the Arab/orientalist bracelets.
nice
i will let you know how to recognise the difference between original kabyles and not kabyles pieces.
of course, somebody who takes an original one and makes copies you will not recognise it but all what not identic copied, you will recognise it
chantal, in my next trip, i have only 2 or 3 weeks that i spend in sahara, few days in north with family. if i get 1 or 2 days more, i will go to kabylie and buy some pieces. then i will tell you and send photos
