After Jemen there was a "?" Supposed to be
Hi Rolf, this looks Omani to me.
I agree with Thelma, that it is from Oman. See one at the British Museum, as a cross reference, although there are lots of other references online should you need.
Dear Rolf; This is beautiful Marriyah necklace from Sur in Oman! I just love the Omani jewelry and your piece with the special decorated Maria Theresa Thalers is very nice indeed. Congratulations. Peter
Thank you anyway all of you
Dear Rolf; The value of such a necklace depends on many things. The overall condition, type of Maria Theresa Thalers used, whether there any corals on the necklace, etc. etc.. On your piece, I like the Maria Theresa Thalers with the moon and star in gold, which is not really common - one can still find it though. A necklace of this sort, I assume, would go now from about USD1,500.- upwards. However, this might have changed now. I have not purchased Omani jewelry for a long time as there is simply not many gorgeous and really old pieces available anymore and if there are, then they are extremely expensive. There are some, which would cost more, such as the double stranded Marriyah necklaces, which are gorgeous. With kind regards. Peter
So that's a test sorry about that
Dear Peter, did you get mail from me? About a myself and collection.
