How interesting Kathleen, did (does) it serve as a liquid container? or gunpowder p.e. On first view it looks like the forfather of the Yemini or Ethiopian cresent ornament.
Yes, I agree with Ingrid. It does look like a piece of jewellery. Could people mistake it for that? I wonder how big it is and whether it was worn.
