@Lynn Ardent. Dear Lynn just found another set of you aluminium bracelets from Mautirania, twins to your except that the screws are aluninium colored vise yours brass. I have also photografed the text and from which book. My photo turned out a bit dull but in the book they are shiny like yours.
Gr. Ingrid.
Fabulous dicovery, Ingrid! Lynn's was the first of its kind I had ever seen.
Good work Ingrid. I think there is not a single one of us not owning a copy of this book and it is a great delight that you were able to make us "re"discover it!
Thank you Alaa, I do not often come around going through books, too busy with making photos, writing captures etc.. I have met Colette Ghysels who came to my house with Katherine Vanderhaege, researcher on ethnic jewelry, both Belgian, to get some of my crosses. Katherine I had met already in Ethiopia while she did her research for the Tropical Museum of Tervuren. Anyway I was quite happy to get some extra confirmation for Linda.
Beautiful, Ingrid. This book is where I first saw these anklets, and I couldn't believe it when I found one. Ingrid I am quite jealous that you met Colette Ghysels!! What kind of crosses did they get?
Hi Lynn, You are so active, cannot surprise you. It was Katherine who brought Colette to my place in the Netherlands and purchased a number of crosses in prime condition which I let go for sale, do not remember precisely but quite some Axum, and Shoa crosses. Katherine had made photos of my items in Ethiopia and I think bought a Muria necklace.,large balls. She brought me also in contact with the Belgium Tropical Museum, Tervuren, where they sold my necklaces and bought many crosses, earspoons etc. for at least 10 yrs or so until the difficult years in Europe about 4 or 5 yrs ago?
Lynn, Colette told me that they(her husband and son) used to have a sale once a year at her house for the items she was going to let go. Now I am talking about 19 years ago.
