  • Splendid. Do they come from a museum or an antique dealer?  In my eyes, its the best item I have seen in months.........Lucky buyer!

  • it is te one i posted a month ago, now i ave it at home. finaly. it was a huge effort to get it here.

i have never seen a complet piece like this one, i got it as i wrote before from a rich colector and friend.

now that i have it in hand and could look at it. i can say it is almost impossibl to find one like this complet if it was not in a museum or saved from a rich collector who got it more than 50 years ago

  • How could  your friend  part with it?

You should make nice arty pictures of it and get them framed. Have never seen the like of it even in museums!

  • in Algerian museum, there is not , not now and not before. at least the museums i know and have new and old catalogs.

yes for sure, i ll give it to professionel photografer and make some beautiful photos of

  • This is very, very serious stuff, Ait. Congratullations!.

  • Jose ,  Thank you. it was not easy to get it and to get it here.it took me more than 1 month since i got the offer until today to get it.

now i m cleaning it a bit, trying to get the silver come better throw.

  • Chantal, i found for you a pair of fibels from the same region as mines in a museum of traditionel arts.

it is the best one i found on this catalogue. i think that musee de bardot and musée des arts islamiques, that is 300 m from bardot should have one with the book and from the same region, i haven t seen a beautiful one with the coins and bells and nicely made

  • Thanks Ait, it feels like a treasure hunt..........There must be some more , hidden in boxes or lofts etc.........they cant all have been melted down. They are so rare..dont forget to make or get a nice photo of yours before You give them away!

    Thank you for your research.

  • a nice complete set, very rare to find completely....the bells are similar to the bells found on the even scarcer SAOURA valley headress and temple ornaments (the only example i know of is in the marrakech TISKIWIN museum!)

BUT!! i must remind you that the original fibulas that were copied here are worm hole fibulas that are even dearer and larger , complete example is published in "islamic silver streasures" from saad al jadi collection (a brilliant extensivecollection)

Marlene has got an OK pair for sale (not overpriced) and one can find many an example in marrakech with prayer boxes as well but way expensive!

anyway, a nice example AIT, you should keep it

Would love to know details about your book if we can get some pictures and references of jewelry books of algerian museums catalogs, thank you

  • the worm hole fibulas are famous but the ones in circulation now are far from the originals. i saw the originals and have friends who have some good ones, collected  in the 70 th, believe me, they are miles more beautiful. i ll make some photos next time i have the opportunity to visite them.

the saoura is big area, goes until the marocco border, before 62, the population was one and it was free market and exchanging of art and handycraft. many items are semilar and still getting made from the both sides.

i know that saoura fibules are getting copied and sold for lot of money for touristes.

but in the saoura region , there is many different fibules, i m getting them in the next coming days. i still have 12 pieces coming ( the ones i posted before ) and another ones that are already sold.

there is some in copper that are also from saoura
