  • Gorgeous etching.  Is it niello around the bottom?

  • Dear Lynn; Many thanks for your message. No, this is not Niello, it is patina - this photo has been taken before cleaning...

I attach a photo of a smaller "sister", weighing just about 1,000 grams. This unit is with gold as well. After cleaning it is looking absolutely gorgeous - the glowing mix of high silver and gold is fantastic! While the larger unit is well over 100 years old, I believe that the below is around 80 years old. Regards. Peter2506022576?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

  • WOW.  I agree the gold and silver is quite a spectacular combination.

Peter what do you use to catalog your collection?  I enjoy how you pull up reference photos and information quickly.

  • Dear Lynn; Many thanks for your message. I am very strictly cataloging my items by country of origin and then as I buy them, with the photo, description, weight (not always), place of origin, place of purchase, date of purchase, amount of purchase and special remarks. Furthermore, I am keeping all photos on an external hard drive, which I am taking with me.

The other day, I was looking for a photo of a very special Dagestan bracelet, which I have purchased many years ago (I just found out that it is actually Dagestan) and tried to find the photo but could not - it bothers me but then I will take the photo in coming February and post it on this site.

We had to postpone our Jerusalem trip as my colleagues did not receive their visas in time. However, all is well now and we will leave on January 5th. I will take some photos of exciting shops and forward them to you...

    With kind regards. Peter

  • Peter,Both impressive and beautiful pieces.  A true dowry investment. Also the chains they are strung on so  smoothly knitted.  Gr. Ingrid

  • Peter that is an excellent description, I had not thought to catalog the place, date, and price of purchase.  What kind of software are you using?  I have just started using OneNote for this.

  • Dear Lynn; Many thanks for your message. I am using the regular Excel for this. However, I have OneNote on my laptop and will try it out as well. Thanks for the information. With kind regards. Peter
