Horseshoe or Scorpion

This lovely, nicely worn hawafer has a strange stamp/hallmark which seem to be the Latin letters N and S. Any ideas?

  • Dear Betty; This could be from Siwa, an Oasis in Egypt, located close to Libya. But this is only my guess. I am sure that Mustafa can shed light into this - he is the expert. Anyhow, it is a gorgeous piece. Congratulations. Peter

  • Thank you, Peter. It was a very lucky ebay find that came together with another (Tunisian) pendant which I will post in the next few days. You are right, Siwa is another option. I should mention that this piece has a very worn bail and is about 6cm long and 4cm wide. Kind regards; Betty
