I think it's a rare item. The only picture I found is in the book 'Bedouin jewellery in Saudi Arabia' of Heather Colyer Ross.
Dear Johanne; Many thanks for posting this beauty. It is gorgeous! Being now since over 4 months in Saudi Arabia, I can tell you that good Saudi jewelry is very hard to find. They changed rather early to gold and Saudi Arabia is probably the first country in the Middle East, abandoning the silver jewelry in favor of gold jewelry. During the last week, I have visited some shops and an owner showed me two Saudi veils. They were in a very poor condition and still cost USD 250 a piece. I have seen a gorgeous Saudi veil - complete - at around USD 1,200.-! Well, I keep on searching... With kind regards. Peter
Dear Peter, thanks for your comment! I'm glad to own this decoration, it was a suprising find.
Once I would love to find a picture women wearing this ornament.
Maybe difficult because they don't like to be photographed.
I hope you will find soon a lot of interesting, not to expensive, old Arabic silver jewelry for your wonderful collection!
With kind regards, Johanne
