  • beautiful item! I just looked at your newest Pictures, they are really remarkable pieces, all of them!

  • I'm re shooting all the old ones and eliminating the bad ones.. that's why so many same . posted these years ago.. they look better now!

  • it is worth it (to take new Pictures). They look gorgeous.

  • yes it's surprising how much difference there is.  Probably why certain things have not sold in the past. I am taking over most of my inventory too this week just so I can have good photos of what I don't have.

Also easier to see the content of the silver when the photos are good. I do them in natural light. Flash tends to flatten the photos and washes out the surface of the silver for the details.

  • Depends on the attachment on the flash head and where its positioned in relation to the jewels. Have you tried an umberella slightly to one side?  The thing abut flash is that you can use a small aperture and get more depth of field on all the jewel. But I would say that was a lovely photograph, it just has very shallow depth of field.

  •  I am for expediency sake using natural light in a room with three sky lights so not to use flash. I don't have time for the umbrella and camera on stand with trigger release and all the things I did in old days. I prefer knocking off photos quickly as I use this method to sell. My feeling is the difference of these new photos and the old ones where flash was used is still 100 times better and as long as the details are all in focus then it serves the purpose for me and also for this blog. I some times as in this case use a macro setting so this is why depth of field is distorted.

  • Yes, if you can use natural light and save time and energy thats great! I guess the light in London is somewhat unreliable, although we've had some wonderful days so far.
