Head Ornament - Bulgaria Ottoman

This is a very rare and old head ornament with Ottoman coins, mother of pearl as well as coral. A matching coral necklace is completing the set.

  • Dear Ingrid: Many thanks for your message. The off-white beads are mother of pearl pieces. The band is very very old - some sort of velvety type but has definitely seen better days... With kind regards. Peter

  • Dear Ingrid, when looking at the Bulgarian folklore costumes, they are extremely colorful with a lot of embroideries, aprons, etc., which probably is the reason for a more subdued headpiece. Mind you, the actual head overs are as well very colorful. With kind regards. Peter
  • That is what I had in mind Peter, like most of the Balkan countries, colorful with their embroideries and head ornaments., even their dances are  full of spirit. But I think their dresses itself a lot of solid colors like black and red.
