  • Ohhhhhh, I love ethnic jewels but I would never sell my camels for them (too worried that someone else might mistreat them!).

  • Wonderful pictures, thank you Ait Ouakli! Also the tresses are wonderful. I have seen it how they make it in the desert, their hair structure is much different from ours. If we made this type of tresses or the Rasta tresses, our European hair would be ruined... (I was offered to make the many tiny tresses, but my hair is too difficult, it would not survive this procedure..) nevertheless, I admire their tresses very much!

  • I think in Islam it is forbidden to make tattoos, therefore they only use colour (henna) which can be removed again.

  • Thank you chantal. i got the photos from friends. i was invited many times for a traditional weddings or authentic touareg metings and pilgrim festivals.i could not do it. the few days  i have in the sahara are not enough for me to do all and it is not always in the same time when i was home.

    i was invited last december to a wedding in the hoggar. started from tamanrasset went to djanet 3 days with 20 cars, 1 week there and again the way back to tamanrasset. the party all the way. i could not be there :-( 

    thoese marriages are closed for no family members. the wedding days everyone is welcome
