granulated cuff. Unknown region of central Asia.Sold as Uzbekistan however my intuiition leads me to believe that this in fact could be from Aktyubinsk region of Kazakhstan. After seeing other cuffs and headdresses with similar structure and over bump surface with raised protrusions or bosses, I am researching further. The population of this area consisted of Kazakhs, Russians, Chetchens, Tartars, Greeks, Uighars, Jews, Armenians. Several of which employed surface decoration of this type in their jewelry. I will post photos of published examples of this style from the books I have. On going research is needed to fully explore the impact on cultural exchange in these areas.

  • A very fine piece - and early, as you say. Museum quality.

  •  A client of mine purchased only one when I had a pair and I had kept it years ago. But I like wearing pairs also bettre. So this is another one of the cuts I have made from the collection for sale.
