  • No reason for me to be jealous of the owner of this, for we own it ourselves - with thanks to you, Linda.

  • yes another piece normally I would have kept and traded mine in for... this one is much better then mine although when I actually put them together, one reason I didn't do it was because I'm used to wearing mine so long and having a connection with it,  that played into it. 2505995762?profile=original2505995812?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

when I looked at the back I liked mine also..  It was close.. but yours is complete. the tassels are the best I have seen ,, i had one more complete one in the past but was not as good.

  • I have now noticed after 30 years and discussing it that mine would have not had the dangles all but for one maybe.. there is not break and no reduction so it was made to have nothing I guess.  Could be a different style or earlier version without the tassels?  I will have to read and see my book on Algerian.. so in fact these two are quite different.  So I guess that's why i decided to keep mine as I wear it all the time and use it and this other one has no history to me.... anyway that worked out well.

  • yess indeed Linda, the one you kept for doesnt support any dangle and it is made plain round

Lovely and just as attractive as the one bought by Joost

  • I agree, Ayis - both are very good in their different ways. I rather like the fact that Linda's does not have the so often met with dangles - but I am happy with out piece as well. We had already bought another one with dangles several decades ago which I think is earlier, but although the dangles were symmetrically arranged, one was missing on each side, which made the proportions less than absolutely perfect: one did feel that there was something missing. So we added Linda's to that one (which is in *Ethnic Jewellery and Adornment*). In between the two we had once been offered an absolutely great early one in splendid condition for a HUGE price. We rejected it because of that, but in retrospect feel we would not have regretted buying it, for it still sticks in my mind. It is, ini my experience, the ones that "got away" which you particularly regret! Even so, we are happy with the two we have.
