Traditional festive costume from Trakya/Thrace. Mostly worn by Muslim immigrants from the Balkans (i.a. northeastern Bulgaria). The large ‘şalvar’ (baggy pants) and the ‘yelek’ (sleeveless vest/bodice) are embroidered in the so-called ‘Rumeli’ style, 1925-1950. (Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
