Very impressive Lynn. I like both of them especially the one with double wire on the left. They look very smart. Interesting that they are quite heavy also. Lucky to find the two at the same time. Congratulations
I just wrote a comment on the other Picture. Love them both, but more even the one at the left with two different types of "bands" twisted around. The material Looks very soft, warm and wonderful.

You placed them properly, Dessie is a town in Northern Ethiopia in the province of Wollo, and they were especially for sale in a little provincial town between Debre Berhan and Dessie called Senbette which means sunday market, a market were loads of trade is done special were also the Afar (nomadic) ethnic group do their dealings. On this market they also sell jewellery but mostly nickel items, I myself did have that experience and they turned out proper nickel ( I had no tester than). Some of the ladies did have the better pieces and offered them for sale. But the price they asked were always enormously inflated. So one was better off to buy it in the Addis Ababa markets were they would have come in for reasonable price. They are mostly very small in size. As they are bracelets given during a young age as an engagement piece. And they are very heavy. For collection very interesting. Gr. Ingrid.

Ingrid, you are the best!! Thank you so much for the detailed information. With this, I was able to find a picture of a woman wearing one of these in Senbette, which I have to add in a separate comment. Charlotte, they are reasonably comfortable for the weight because of how close they sit to the wrist, so they don't bang around. I would not want to do housework in them. :)

I see that in the picture the lady is wearing only one bracelet in her right hand, and has another of different type in her left hand . Which justifies your two different bracelets' as you call them "odd'.
