Thank you, Sarah. I have the whole headress. Did not know the date.
Yes, glass is flat and an orange color.
Maybe even a touch earlier
Toya, your display of enamel is wonderful. I also love the sunny and mellow quality of it all and the ancient looking metal and the old coins. Great pieces of history ..........Great pleasure to look at them (and with expert datation!).
Thank you Chantal!
Sarah, after reading your discussion about beads traded to Africa and used in enamel making,
I think I see the yellow and green of a Venetian miellifiori in this one!
It is amazing how this glass understanding
can change your way of seeing!!
so glad you are embracing the concept!!

Thanks for this Sarah. I had never before considered glass sources for enamel-making. Now I see how important these sources are to the outcome and how they leave clues to time and place of manufacture. Truly enlightening!
Following the first hand experiences of seeing the work done, a whole world of context in relation to bead trades became apparent...
There are variables too which I am still learning of, such as the differences in appearance re heated glass 'leftovers' which give yet another variation which needs to be in the mix!!
