Hi,
I guess these are bahariyya oases bracelets , hallmarks are ottoman Tughras
The fishes are misleading since they are very common in tunisia
Who knows?
Bought it recently, it's hallmarked (double). Does somebody knows something about the origin/date? One of the marks looks like a 'tugra' (Ottoman empire?). I followed the comments on Tunesian and Siva cuffs of Ann Porteus and Susan Kaplan, and like the interesting story of the fish symbol.
Thanks,
Johanne
Well thughras were used during ottoman egypt wich means they are at least late 19th century, but i guess that the tughras was still used until the introduction of the triple hallmark starting from the 1930'S,
So very early bracelets indeed
